Boss Profit FAQ

What is the most profitable boss in Path of Exile right now?

Right now, Uber Searing Exarch is the most profitable boss in Allflame league at roughly 56 per hour, or 166 per run. Rankings shift with market prices, so check the live table above for the current order.

How is PoE boss profit calculated?

Expected profit per run is the sum of each drop's market price multiplied by its drop chance, minus the cost of everything you need to open the fight (fragments, invitations, keys). Profit per hour additionally factors in the average run time of the boss.

Does the profit include the cost of fragments and invitations?

Yes. Entry requirements such as fragment sets, invitations, and keys are priced at current market value and subtracted from the expected drop value, so the numbers shown are net profit.

How often are boss profit numbers updated?

Item and currency prices are scraped daily and every profit figure on this page is recalculated from those prices.

Which leagues are supported?

The current challenge league (default) and permanent Standard league. Use the league selector in the header to switch — every price and profit number is league-specific.

Which PoE boss is safest to farm?

Catarina, Master of Undeath is currently the highest-earning low-risk boss in Allflame league at roughly 43.5 per hour. Low risk means its reliable drops already cover the entry cost, so you are not depending on a rare item to break even. The Risk column on the table above rates every boss the same way.

How much currency do I need to start farming a boss?

Each boss page shows a recommended starting budget, produced by simulating thousands of farmers running that boss thousands of times using its real drop table. It is the amount that carries 9 out of 10 farmers through a bad streak without going bust — which is often far more than a single run costs, because losses arrive in clusters.

Why does a profitable boss still lose me currency?

Because profit per run is an average, not a guarantee. On many bosses most of the value sits in one rare drop, so the majority of individual runs come back worth less than the entry cost and the average only appears over a long stretch. A boss can advertise a healthy profit per hour and still drain a small stack before a lucky drop ever lands — which is exactly what the risk rating and recommended budget are there to warn you about.

What is a lucky drop?

A drop counts as a "lucky drop" only when it is both rare — under a 7% chance per run — and worth at least 15% of everything the boss is expected to drop. Rarity alone does not qualify: a cheap item that seldom drops is just bad luck. Bosses whose profit depends on a lucky drop are the ones that need a real budget behind them.
